When a global brand enters a new market, the easy localisation move is to translate the copy and call it done. The sharper move is to ask a harder question: what does this product mean emotionally to the local buyer, and is the version they're holding actually meaningful to them? Glade Essences Elite is a premium fragrance range whose entire promise is sensorial escape — where does this scent take you? Globally, it travels to California, Santorini, the Alps. For Thai consumers, those destinations are real but distant. What lands closer to home is the air at Khao Yai over a weekend trip, the rose gardens of Mae Rim outside Chiang Mai, the coastal breeze at Koh Samui, the sunshine of Phuket. The pack had to do more than translate Glade into Thai — it had to root Glade in places Thai consumers actually feel something about.

The Aerosol Sprays range — four variants (Alpine Lily, Koh Samui, California Peony, Santorini Blossoms) styled in a coastal-home lifestyle setting, framing the aerosol as the more aspirational, ceremonial format in the range.

For Glade Essences Elite Thailand, we designed the localisation into the variant architecture itself, with deliberately different weightings for the range's two product formats. The scented gels — the everyday, room-by-room format — lean heavily into local emotional geography: three variants, all Thai destinations ('Mae-rim' Roses & Peony, Refreshing 'Khao-Yai' Breeze, 'Phuket' Sunshine Breeze), each pack illustrating its destination through rose gardens, waterfall highlands, and tropical-island palm-and-fruit scenes. The aerosol sprays — the more aspirational, ceremonial format — extend the system with one Thai anchor ('Koh Samui' Coastal Breeze) alongside three international cues (Alpine Lily, California Peony, Santorini Blossoms), giving the range global reach while keeping a local thread. Across both formats, the same design system holds the range together: faceted crystal-inspired graphics as a unifying background texture and a destination-specific illustration carrying each variant's emotional payload. Seven variants, two formats, one premium range that feels genuinely Thai on the Thai shelf without losing the global Glade signature.

Most global brands localise their packs minimally — language translation, regulatory marks, the local certification logo where required. The sharper opportunity is bigger: re-root the brand's emotional architecture (scent names, occasion cues, lifestyle moments, hero imagery) in the local market's actual memory. The sharpest opportunity goes further still — recognise that different formats within the same range play different emotional roles for the local shopper, and let the naming, illustration, and palette weight accordingly. The everyday format earns its place through familiarity; the aspirational format earns its place through escape. The packaging system honours both. As a creative agency in Kuala Lumpur producing cross-border work across Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, and the wider Southeast Asia region, we design regional packaging localisation, multi-format pack systems, and culturally-rooted variant architectures for FMCG, home care, beauty, and lifestyle brands extending global ranges into local shelves.
Capabilities applied to this project: Glade Essences Elite Thailand packaging, Glade Thailand pack design, premium home fragrance packaging, multi-format pack system design, scented gel packaging design, aerosol can packaging design, regional packaging localisation, aqua-based formula pack architecture, Thai-destination scent naming, faceted crystal pack graphics, illustration-led pack design, SC Johnson Glade packaging, SC Johnson creative agency Southeast Asia, KL agency for Thailand and Vietnam brands, cross-border packaging design Southeast Asia, premium FMCG packaging Kuala Lumpur.
